On the 2nd August in the presence of our boiler inspector, 47493’s boiler passed its hydraulic exam. This involved filling it with water and then pressurising the water to 1.25x the working pressure of 160psi - around 215psi.
The boiler then had to maintain this pressure for around 30 mins with no intervention, and we are pleased to say it did this with no issues.
The testing process is two-staged and this is the first part. We now move on to the steam test and the North Norfolk team will be preparing to light the first fire in 47493 in 8.5 years, in the coming days.
The boiler overhaul is now nearing completion and it’s through your generosity that this has been possible.
