We are very pleased to announce that on Saturday 22nd January, 47393’s frames returned to its wheels for the first time since 2015.
The operation took place around a number of other planned lifts involving the railway’s heavy lifting jacks, and involved over 4 weeks of planning and lots of pre-work undertaken by our volunteer team!
The whole operation took a little over a few hours to complete and went without a hitch, just the usual challenges involved with this activity. Soon after the frames were towed around the yard and we are pleased to say nothing untoward has come to light.
Enjoy a few photos of the occasion, including a time lapse taken by one of our volunteers. The final photo shows just some of the team who were involved over the 3 days on the project.
A massive thank you goes to 25+ volunteers who gave up their time to achieve this significant milestone in 47493’s overhaul.
