Almost no sooner had I published my last report, Norfolk phoned to provide another update. So here are a few photos.
All the boiler tubes have now been cut to length and fitted into the boiler. These are now being expanded into the tube holes.
On the back of the boiler all the studs have now been replaced and the mating faces where all the boiler fittings bolt on, have all been built up where wastage was evident, and returned to flat. A few jobs are outstanding include new boiler studs for the dome and preparation for the hydraulic test.
Last week the order was placed for the boiler plugs, and unexpectedly, were delivered on Friday! This along with the collection on Saturday from Tunbridge Wells, means all the parts are now in Norfolk for the final reassembly. The photo shows the parts shortly before collection.
We are now approaching the end and the point where 47493’s boiler will see water for the first time since January 2015!
